What does “writing better” mean?
It involves effectively achieving the desired communication objectives by:
* Engaging the reader’s interest
* Ensuring the reader understands the intended message
* Motivating the reader to absorb, analyse and – if desired – respond to the content
* Conveying, when appropriate, an emotional state or personal impression from the writer to the reader
Which language?
The lectures can be held in English or German. The same applies to the group exercises. The participants chose.
How to enrol in a writing seminar.
The Allwrite writing course is offered on request and held for groups of five to ten participants. The course lasts two and a half days (three days for Superficial Intelligence) and takes place in an inspiring location — in Austria or elsewhere in Europe. The main point is to get away from home and the office for two and a half days. In eastern Austria, our venue is Walddenke at the Rax.
Participants complete a short questionnaire one week before the seminar so I can tailor the program to their individual needs. This allows me to assign each participant specific writing tasks and provide practical, experience-based advice.
My fundamental method for better writing applies to all kinds of texts — from emails to essays, from meeting notes to press releases. I have also worked individually with participants on blogs, short stories, and book ideas. Those who internalize the basic method — the drill — can work highly productively with artificial intelligence as a tool without sacrificing their individual style.
Dates and fees.
I regularly offer individual seminars for executives and entrepreneurs.

In this year’s sessions, several focus areas have proven particularly valuable: Writing with creativity, using artificial intelligence tools for writing, and leading better through clear and precise writing.
The next seminar dates open for individual registration are November 12–14 and November 18–20, 2025. Each of these sessions still has one remaining spot.
Further dates in 2026: January 28–30, 2026, February 4–6, 2026, March 25–27, 2026 (Superficial Intelligence, in English), May 4–6, 2026, and May 6–8, 2026.
I encourage participants to explore language in a playful, methodical, focused and varied manner.
Short presentations are interspersed with practical writing exercises. I personally review and provide feedback on all participants’ work, and we discuss some of these exercises as a group. We also analyse examples of both effective and ineffective writing.
To keep our minds sharp, we take breaks between sessions, as quality writing demands intense concentration and mental energy. Weather permitting, we may even work outside to take advantage of the fresh air.
This is how the first two days go. On the third, half-day, we discuss the last exercise from the previous day and learn from each other through the experiences we have made. We review what was important to us. I provide specific advice for individual participants’ particular writing challenges.
This short video best conveys the atmosphere. It was filmed at a seminar held at the “Walddenke” house in Lower Austria.
What are the requirements for participating in the writing seminar?
The only indispensable prerequisite for writing better is the desire to write better. Anyone who can think can write. German or English do not need to be the participants’ native language, as long as they have a reasonable command of the seminar language.
Is this writing seminar right for me?
The seminars are aimed at ordinary people who have to communicate in writing at least occasionally in their professional lives.
My writing seminars are like first-aid courses — no mystery, just a few techniques everyone can master.
There is no one I cannot help to express themselves better in writing.
Many participants wish to enrich their lives through writing — their motivation is to write more creatively, more engagingly, and more vividly.
Who can benefit from a writing seminar?
Who can benefit from a writing seminar?
Most people begin learning to write by the time they are six years old. However, very few people are systematically taught to write well. Effective written communication is not an art reliant on innate talent; it is a craft or, rather, a mental skill.
In educational settings such as schools and universities, there is often limited support for those who want to improve their writing. The typical writing assignments, like essays and book reports, fail to prepare you for professional writing demands. And if you’re faced with writing a thesis, dissertation or habilitation, you may end up losing your practical writing skills altogether.
Specific professions demand particular writing styles: police officers learn to write reports and interrogation records; medical specialists develop a style of writing that can be cryptic to those outside their field; journalists, authors and copywriters acquire their skills through formal education or practical experience. Yet, many professionals who write as part of their roles rely on their existing skills, often without realising that their writing could be greatly improved.
Is the writing seminar helpful for people who don’t like writing or feel hesitant?
Absolutely. In fact, these are the ideal participants. The first step toward improvement is to recognise the challenges of writing and be open to learning. I help individuals overcome writing inhibitions with straightforward techniques honed over my 40 years of professional writing experience. Whatever obstacles you face, there’s a good chance I’ve encountered them and found solutions.
How is the writing seminar structured?
The seminar is designed around three main steps, with an additional bonus step. By participating in all three steps over a long weekend filled with exercises and feedback, you are guaranteed to improve your writing skills.
Step 1. Structure: Only organised thoughts enable targeted communication.
Step 2. Formulate: Find words, form sentences, compose the text.
Step 3. Correct: No text is born perfect. Mistakes must be corrected, weaknesses eliminated.
Bonus step. Optimise: There’s always room for improvement. Every good text has the potential to be refined even further.
That’s the drill. There are no two ways about it. In addition we can find motivation and inspiration for better writing in exemplary uses of language across various mediums. Whether in the form of videos, films, sound recordings or music, art enriches and informs our craft.
I want to write a novel. Will the writing seminar help me?
Yes. I also support participants with blogs, articles, LinkedIn posts, and similar writing projects. I offer this individually to interested participants—either during the seminar, on the side, or as a follow-up afterwards.
How much does the seminar cost?
The course fees consist of two components. First, the course fee itself: €1,450 per person plus VAT. Second, the costs for the seminar venue, accommodation, and meals — for which a separate offer is prepared.
The all-inclusive price for the seminar at Walddenke on the Rax, including two overnight stays with breakfast, a light lunch, and two dinners (excluding beverages), is €2,000 plus 20% VAT.
The “Superficial Intelligence” seminar costs €2,500 plus 20% VAT. This amount includes accommodation and meals.
